The system was discovered 450 years ago by astronomers searching the galaxy for habitable planets. A few centuries later the singularity happened, and mankind was able to travel at speeds considered impossible. Fast forward to the present, four of eleven planets in the solar system are colonized to some extent. One of the inner planets is covered by 80% of water. The equatorial continent is known for its beautiful beaches and rich marine lifeforms in the lagoons. For example, snails are up to five meters in size, and the red giant crab went viral when someone filmed it during its mating ritual.

Some choose a lush life on planet surfaces, others are in for a more skyward lifestyle. Called spacers, they travel between planets, and occasionally they enjoy a cosmojito at the observation lounges of Yosemite station or the Skyworld orbital megacity. Watching commuting shuttles and the landmarks at the planet's surface can be a calming experience, like sitting in an urban café and watching people go by. Trips to the poles for watching space weather phenomena are available, too.

New Shanghai, a shipyard in low earth orbit, was originally constructed to build and harbor space ships. Not only was it extended over the decades with a capacity of 72 peers, it also received a launch catapult. With the satellite communications network in place, commercial applications thrived. The most ambitious undertaking was the orbital parkour track. It features a number of goals, pit stops, and buoys with sufficient media capabilities to cover events such as speed races, relays, or even celebrations with fireworks.

The second planet was rather barren, but corporations were looking for ways to mine the subterranean resources. When a squad of mining bots was sent to the South Pole and started digging, they transmitted data that would rival the significance of the invention of the gravity drive ...
